Rodman Library Receives Gates Foundation Grant

Rodman Public Library recently received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to replace computers at the Main Library and Carnation Mall Branch. This two-year grant has allowed the Main Library to replace one desktop computer and to purchase one new laptop computer. The Carnation Mall Branch has received three replacement desktop computers and three new laptops, along with Wi-Fi connectivity and a replacement laser printer. The foundation's Opportunity Online hardware grant program is designed to help the library provide free access to computers for library patrons long into the future. The foundation determines how the allocated funds may be used and distributed between a library and its branches.

Rodman Library is required to match 25% of this year's $7,800 grant, and 50% of next year's grant of $3,900. Matching funds were made available by a private donation.
