Web Site for Kids

On February 1, 2007 Rodman Library debuted a children’s web site called "Rodman Kids". The site features games and kid-related book information for children in three different age categories: 0-5, 6-8, and 9-11. The brightly colored site includes a new mascot based on Dewey the Goldfish who lived in a fishbowl in the Children’s Department at the Main Library on Broadway Street. Dewey was brought to life by Kathy Gray Farthing, a local illustrator and graphic artist who owns Farthing Graphic Design.

Games include a version of Hangman, a box game for two opponents, and a simulated earthquake button that "shakes" your computer screen. Books from the children’s collection are highlighted and link to the catalog so that they may be reserved for checkout.

Information for parents and teachers is included as well as links to Homework Now, a site provided by the State of Ohio Public Libraries for assistance with assignments, and Tumblebooks^tm, a collection of e-books and activities for children.
