Make Rodman Public Library your destination this summer. The Adult Summer Reading Program at Rodman Public Library will kick off June 6 and run through August 29. This year's theme is "Novel Destinations." The program is open to any adults and offers prizes, hands-on creative opportunities and special events.
For each book read, adults will place a ticket into a weekly prize drawing with the ticket for each sixth book entered in the Grand Prize drawing. The Grand Prize is an over-night stay with breakfast for two donated by the Spread Eagle Tavern in Hanoverton, Ohio. But that's not all! Friends of Rodman Public Library, have provided funds for a Tom-Tom 140-s GPS navigator and a $50.00 gas card for the perfect getaway. Weekly prizes are book bags provided by Friends of Rodman Public Library.
After reading six books, readers will be awarded a voucher for 50% off Sunday-Wednesday camping or get-away rental at Ohio State Parks. In addition, Ohio Caverns near Dayton, Ohio, has offered two free passes (a $28.00 value good through 12/31/11) to some lucky reader. Ohio Caverns is the largest cave system in Ohio.
Adult Summer Reading Program events include a "Musical Mystery Tour of England" presented by James Perone, Margaret Morgan Ramsay Professor of Music at the University of Mount Union and author of a number of books about the rock scene. This program will take place on Saturday, June 11, at 2:30 p.m.
A representative of Gervasi Vineyard in Canton, Ohio will also present a program on North American wines on Monday, August 8, at 7 p.m.
