Kids Book Club (May 15)
[Everything You Need to Know About the Kids Book Club]
Kids Book Club is for ages 8 to 12,and meets at 4:15 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. Each session will include a brief book discussion, a game and/or activity as well as a snack. Books are available for extended checkout.
The May 15 selection is The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate.

Spring Storytime at the Branch
(Tuesdays through May 28)
All youngsters are invited to attend eight weeks of Camp Rodman Branch.
Each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. through May 28, the Rodman Branch Library’s Spring Storytime will feature a theme related to camping with Yogi Bear and Boo Boo serving as mascots.
During each of those weeks, kids will begin by searching for a picnic basket that will contain something that relates to the topic of the week inside of it. Of course, the storytime will also include lots of books, songs, and a fun activity.
The themes for the storytimes include:
April 2 – Camping
April 9 – Bears (bring a bear with you)
April 16 – Nature
April 23 – S’mores
April 30 – Fishing
May 7 – Nocturnal Animals (wear your pajamas)
May 14 – Tents
May 21 – Bugs
May 28 – First Aid
Registration is not required to attend storytime.

Play Group (Mondays at 6:30 p.m.)
Play Group is offered each Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library.
The program is recommended for children ages birth through 5 years, but all ages are welcome.
During Play Group, children play together while caregivers supervise and socialize.

Hot Pots Storytime (April 24 & 27)
Spring will be the theme for Hot Pots Storytime in January.
Sessions will be held on Wednesday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m. and another on Saturday, March 11 at 11 a.m.
Children, ages 3-12, are invited to come to the Branch for a mini storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint a bunny egg holder and chick egg.
Frogs will be the theme for Hot Pots Storytime in April.
Sessions will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. and another on Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m.
Children, ages 3-12, are invited to come to the Branch for a mini storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint a froggy figurine.
The cost is $15.99 per child and registration is required. The fee for the event is payable to Hot Pots upon registration at hotpotspottery.com.

Tabletop Gaming (April 24)
Feeling bored?
Try playing some new board games at Rodman Public Library’s Tabletop Gaming.
The popular all-ages program returns to the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24.
Each month, a new game will be featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection will also be available and visitors are always welcome to bring their own games.
The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends.
Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program.
Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.

Bag Swag (April 30) -- ages 10-18
Young patrons, ages 10-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 to make some swag for their bags.
Using their imaginations as well as supplies and tools at RPL, tweens and teens will create items such as keychains and buttons that they can adorn on backpacks and gym bags.
The program is free, thanks to support from Friends of Rodman Public Library.

Kids Gaming is held on the first Wednesday of each month at Rodman Public Library in the Main Library Auditorium. From 4 to 5 p.m., children, ages 8-12, are treated to open play of video games, Minecraft, etc. on devices provided by the library. The next session is Wednesday, May 1. Movie Matinee: Madame Web (May 4)
Rodman Public Library will screen Madame Web on the big screen inside the Main Auditorium at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
The film, which is rated PG-13, runs 1 hour and 56 minutes.
All movies are free at RPL and fresh popcorn is provided, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is not required. All ages are welcome to attend, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
Kids Crafting (May 9)
Rodman Public Library’s monthly Kids Crafting program continues at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 9 when children, ages 7-12, are invited to come to the Main Library to create a cotton swab lavender painting.
All materials used during monthly kids crafting programs are provided for free thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library.

Rodman Public Library has two Advanced Workstations in Education, Inc. (AWE) Early Literacy Stations and desks for the Main Children's Department and one station available at the Branch. One bilingual Spanish computer is available at each the Main Library and the Branch. Read more

Rodman Public Library's 1000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative for families with children ages 0-5 is designed to help parents prepare their children for one of life’s big milestones: starting kindergarten. Research has shown that children get ready to read years before they begin their formal education, and an excellent way to get children ready to learn is to read to them.
