Join the 'Knitwits' Knitting Circle

Are you interested in networking with other needle workers to compare notes and chat? You are invited to Rodman Public Library on Monday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m. for an informational meeting about starting a knitting circle at the library. Rodman Library Receives Gates Foundation Grant

Rodman Public Library recently received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to replace computers at the Main Library and Carnation Mall Branch. The foundation's Opportunity Online hardware grant program is designed to help the library provide free access to computers for library patrons long into the future. The foundation determines how the allocated funds may be used and distributed between a library and its branches. More...

Young Explorer Program Returns in October

The Children's Department at Rodman Public Library will begin taking registrations for the Young Explorer's program beginning September 1. The program begins in October. There is an attendance limit of 15 children. The program is for children ages 7-9. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month and consist of stories, games and a craft or other activities. Call the Children's Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 224 for more information or to register.

September Lapsit

The Children's Department at Rodman Public Library invites patrons ages 2 & 3 years old to Lapsit Monday evenings, August 30, September 13, 20 & 27 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday mornings, September 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 at 10:30 a.m. Topics will include: an all music day, apples, leaves and fall friends. Lapsit is held in the Children's Program Room. Sessions last 20-30 minutes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required. Come as often as you can.

Storytime at Carnation Mall Branch

The Carnation Mall Branch of Rodman Library invites patrons ages 4-6 years old to Storytime on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:15 p.m. and Wednesday mornings from 10:30-11:15 a.m. in September and October. Themes include: school days, fairy tales, autumn, outer space, down on the farm, pets, out on the range and Halloween. Children will learn through stories, finger plays, and games. Registration is not required. For more information call the Branch at 330-821-2665, ext. 401.

Fairmount Video Available

An online version of Fairmount Children's Home History presented by Carolyn Caskey of the Washington Township Historical Society for the Alliance Historical Society and Rodman Public Library on March 20, 2010 is now available. Real Media Player and a broadband connection are needed to watch it online. A DVD version is also available for checkout.

Meet Dewey! Kids banner Rodman Library has created a web site just for children called "Rodman Kids". The site features games and kid-related book information for children in three different age categories: 0-5, 6-8, and 9-11. The brightly colored site includes a mascot based on Dewey the Goldfish who lived in a fishbowl in the Children's Department at the Main Library. Dewey was brought to life by Kathy Gray Farthing, a local illustrator and graphic artist who owns Farthing Graphic Design. More...
