Small Town Stories
Our first installments of the Small Town Stories Series were so successful that a fall series is being planned. Join us on September 9 at 7:00 p.m. for Sebring. Other programs include Damascus on September 23, Atwater on October 7 and Alliance on October 21. Reference Department manager Jane Thomas talks about the series in this Alliance Review video.
Twilight Talk Tuesdays
Join us at the Main Library to talk about all things Twilight as we get ready for the release of the movie on December 12. Bring your books (if you have them) on Tuesdays, September 23, October 21, November 18 and December 16. Come to the Children's Program Room from 4-5 p.m. and be prepared for fun!
Programs Abound in September
As the kids go back to school, you can too by joining us for one of our adult learning programs. On September 15, Bill Fogle will help you winterize your car and answer your car questions. Members of the Alliance Historical Society led by Gordon Harrison return for a second installment of "What IS That?" featuring items of the past on September 22. Rodman Library offers it's own antique appraising program on September 29 with "What's It Worth?". Bring your antiques and collectibles for appraisal by certified appraisers and an old book dealer. And don't forget our popular computer classes. Classes will begin September 3. A full schedule is now available.

"Go Green" with Rodman Library

Storytime Returns to Main Library in July and August
The Children's Department of Rodman Public Library invites patrons ages 4-6 years old to storytime Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. and Thursday mornings from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. A different topic will be featured each week, from July 1 – August 28. The topics will include: "Dizzy Dinosaurs", "Unusual Pets", "Ahoy, Matey!", "A Royal Ball", "Jolly Giants", "Crocodile Rock", "Strange Creatures", and "Tide’s Out!" There will be no storytime Tuesday August 12 or Thursday August 14 due to the Friends of Rodman Library used book sale. Visitors can learn through stories, games, songs and finger plays. Storytime Moves to the Mall Branch in September and October
The Carnation Mall Branch of Rodman Library will once again host story time for 4-6 year olds this fall. Patrons may attend story time on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:15 or Thursday mornings from 10-10:45. Themes for story time include the following: "Whale of a Tale" on September 9 and 11, "Here Comes the Circus" on September 16 and 18, "Story Time A-B-C" on September 23 and 25, "Fabulous Fairytales" on September 30 and October 2, "Lost Something" on October 7 and 9, "Shoe-Bee-Do" on October 14 and 16, "Hello Horses" on October 21 and 23, "All for Fall" on October 28 and 30. Children may dress in costume for October 28 and 30. There will be stories, songs, fingerplays and/or crafts for each session. An adult must be available in the library for the child. Faxing Just Got Easier
Local businesses and individuals needing a fax now have one easily accessible at Rodman Public Library’s Main location at 215 E. Broadway Street. Faxes may be sent to any location in the United States or internationally. Those using the service are required to pay with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) or to purchase a FaxCash® prepaid fax card at the library. More...
Wireless Internet Access
Got laptop? Wi-Fi internet service is now available at the main library. It works with Macs and PSP units as well as PCs.
Patrons at the main library may bring their personal laptop computers into the library to connect to the Internet. Rodman Library has created a web
site just for children called "Rodman Kids". The site features games and kid-related
book information for children in three different age categories: 0-5, 6-8, and
9-11. The brightly colored site includes a mascot based on Dewey the
Goldfish who lives in a fishbowl in the Children’s Department at the Main
Library. Dewey was brought to life by Kathy Gray Farthing, a
local illustrator and graphic artist who owns Farthing Graphic Design. More...
Free Inter-Library Loans
Rodman Public Library has joined with other Stark County libraries in offering inter-library loan service at no charge to its customers. If you can’t find the book you want in our library, we will be happy to find it for you elsewhere and have it shipped to us for pick-up by you. Besides books, this service also applies to audio books, CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes. Come and check us out!
Expanded Computer Services
MyLibraryDV is a new downloadable video service available through Rodman Public Library. If you have a broadband connection to the Internet through DSL or cable and a Rodman Library card, then you have access to more than 500 video programs that you can "check out" for viewing on your home computer.
